Chance's First Krispy Kreme
After Chance got out of the hospital he requested a donut of all things. Not sure where he came up with that, but since he had been so sick and lost some weight Mommy figured sure! We went grocery shopping then made a stop for a Krispy Kreme! We got to watch how they were made and we got samples! He only ate about 3/4 and was done! We had fun just Mommy and her little buddy!

Chance's stay in the hospital
Well Chance has had a pretty rough summer in terms of sickness. He started with the stomach bug twice three weeks apart. Then he was diagnosed with an ear infection and it got worse. At Hallie's 6 month check Chance was not feeling the greatest and was running a fever so they looked and both ears were infected. We started on antibiotic, but by that Monday his fever was still there and he had a yucky cough. The pediatrician switched antibiotics and said they would monitor him as the week progressed. Well by Wednesday the cough was horrible and he was choking alot and very very tired. He took a few four hour naps that week. Ben was able to take him that afternoon to the pedi and they started him on some breathing treatments. After three treatments his O2 saturation was still in the low 90s at rest so they told us to load up and head to the ER. I stayed home with Hallie and the boys went until Ben's parents got to our house so I could join them. Through the whole process he was a champ! Thanks to Toy Story he was pretty content as any two year could be in the hospital. He was admitted that night so they could monitor his levels which really never came up too much even with the treatments. He was WIRED from all the meds which are stimulants. I came home and Ben and Chance finally were able to get to a room and settled by 2am!!! Ben stayed with him the next day so I could see my some off 50 patients the next day and we traded places the next night. By Friday morning he was feeling much better and told me his IV was a rope and that he wanted to jump it! Luckily we got to check out at about 11am that morning. Through the whole process they treated him as an asthmatic with all the meds, but reassured us that he probably would not have asthma (if that makes sense) the drainage from the ears I guess settled in his chest causing insufficient oxygen to get in/out of his tiny lungs. He was a trooper as was Hallie who spent a few days at Gran and Big Daddy's! So thankful for all the prayers and visits from our church family and the Nichols who brought us food in the hospital!

Hallie: 6 months
Sweet little girl is already 6 months! She is still as sweet as can be, but you can definitely start to see the drama unfolding! She gets her feelings hurt very easily. She drops a toy and you think the world has just ended! It hurts your ears when she screams! The Hembrees may need to invest in some earplugs! She weighed in at 14 lbs 10 ounces and was 25 inches long. She is still very petite and currently in the 25th percentile. She absolutely adores her brother and if he is anywhere near she watches to see what he is up to. She will roll over to touch him, which he thinks is great and loves the attention. She is sleeping great with two long naps in the day and one short evening nap. She is still sleeping through the night like a champ. We have begun solids, but she is not a fan at all. I hope this improves with time. She is doing better sitting on her own and can last longer and longer everyday. She will "tolerate" tummy time but after a while gives up and lays her head down in defeat.

The Tale of the Big Boy Bed!
We have had quite a time with Chance's transition to his toddler bed! Chance has always been a fan of his crib. When he would get tired he would walk over to his crib and want in. It all began with Chance's little stint at preschool....I was told he tired to climb out of the bed when he was settled in for his nap but I didn't think much of it. The beds are quite scary looking! After his first bout with the stomach bug is when "it" all began which was the first week of school. I put him down for his nap in his crib one day and he flipped out (and I mean flipped out!) He would throw himself over the edge and land on his head and run around his room like he had lost his mind. He did this repeatedly for about four times and I decided he really was going to hurt himself. I laid on the floor next to his crib as he went to sleep over the next two days! I was hoping it was just separation anxiety from preschool and that he would get over it. He didn't! We decided that Ben and I couldn't risk injury because we had to constantly be on monitor duty even in the middle of the night if we weren't there we would flip out and bale out of the crib! We tried to hype up the fact his new bed (mattress on the floor until we could convert sister's crib) would be on the floor so he didn't have to be scared! He choose to sleep by the door instead after hysterically crying for a while! After a few nights we finally got the big boy toddler bed in his room and we just knew he would like it! OH NO! Sleeping right by the door continued! He did this for about two months! He would literally tell us goodnight for nap or nighttime and shut his door and lay by the door! It was so sad! I even caught a picture of his little hand sticking out! I honestly thought he would NEVER get back in his bed! Well I resorted to bribery! Chance adores Toy Story so I promised him Buzzlightyear if he could sleep in his bed. This lasted one night and back on the floor after he got Buzz!! (smart kiddo!) I finally told him if he could sleep three nights in a row (I got smarter) he could have Woody! And it worked! Our little guy finally will sleep in his bed! (it has now been about three weeks) If you are still reading good for you! I just want to remember what an ordeal it was!

Family in Town!
My mom was here for a few days before my cousins wedding and we had alot of fun just hanging out! Chance loved showing MiMi all he could do! She got here just in time to see him sliding down his slide into his blow up pool. He didn't even realize his pants were falling down. Hallie enjoyed just hanging out in MiMi's lap!
My brother came to town the next week after his trip to the wedding and a few days at my sister's! Chance adores his cousins and had fun playing with them. We enjoyed just being around the house for a day and taking advantage of my brother's culinary skills. On the 4th we went to the river up in Comfort and just played in the water until it was time to head home for naps! That evening we enjoyed fireworks from our front lawn. So cool to not have to go anywhere to enjoy the display! The next day the girls went shopping and Uncle Barak took Chance to Bass Pro Shop and he loved it! We need to take advantage of the animal displays more often. We loved having our houseguests that week! We hope they come again soon!
Trip to Houston and Back!
My cousin Tyler got married at then end of June and we were set for our first hotel stay as a family of four and celebrate Stacy and I's birthday! My enitre family was set to be attendance! We got to the hotel in time to see my sister and say goodnight! Then the fun began. Chance woke up throwing up:(( So we literally got up traded having breakfast in the hotel with Stacy and her kiddos and got back in the car and headed back home to San Antonio. We were so disappointed. Poor little guy could not even hold down water and was asking to go home. We pulled into the driveway in San Antonio and mommy took Chance to the ER. He had thrown up all the way home and was complaining of his head and neck hurting. Mommy knows just enough to be super paranoid so we took him in to rule out meningitis. They gave him antinausea meds and gatorade and we got to go home! Not the most exciting way to spend a weekend or birthday, but so thankful he was okay!

Hallie: 5 months
I am a little behind! Hallie turned 5 months old on the 20th! Our sweet little thing is a petite butterball! She is still as happy as can be. Very content whereever she is. She loves to watch Chance play. She still seems to love Boomer! Her little face lights up when she sees him. When she smiles her whole faces smiles! She is looking like Ben more and more to me! She has very different coloring than Chance does so maybe she will be the tan one in our family! She still sleeps good at night from 8pm to 7am and I officially dropped her dream feed a few weeks back. She is not very mobile. She can roll over but most times she is just content. She enjoys her bouncer and exersaucer. She laughs and laughs when you kiss on her! Daddy kissed her so much the other day she had a razor rash from his stubble! He loves loves loves his little girl! She is getting better at trying to sit up on her own and can last about 5 to 10 seconds and topples over! Enjoy the new pictures! We had an outfit change due to the spit up! She is a consistent spitter upper!!
